LANSING, January 2, 2008 – A winner from Wednesday’s Millionaire Raffle has already claimed her prize!
Rita Wellman of Onondaga, who purchased her ticket at Zimmerman’s Trading Post in Rives Junction, claimed her $100,000 prize on Wednesday afternoon. The regular Lottery player, who said she’s been smiling since she realized she won, plans to pay bills with her prize money.
Winning numbers from Tuesday’s drawing are available on the Lottery’s Web site at http://www.michigan.gov/lottery and at Lottery regional offices. Retailers can also validate Raffle tickets.
Wellman was the first player to claim a prize following Wednesday’s drawing. The Millionaire Raffle has six prizes of $1 million; 12 prizes of $100,000; and 2,000 prizes of $500!
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
