LANSING, January 3, 2008 – Saturday’s Classic Lotto 47 jackpot has reached new heights! The $16.1 million prize is the third largest jackpot in the entire country, beating out the $12 million Mega Millions prize for Friday night.
While no winners matched all six numbers in Wednesday’s drawing, 23 players walked away with $2,500 each for matching five of six numbers! In addition, 740 players matched four numbers and won $100. Wednesday’s winning numbers were 10 16 21 29 30 46.
The next Classic Lotto 47 drawing is Saturday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at any Lottery retailer and sales for Saturday’s 7:29 p.m. drawing will close at 7:08 p.m. that night.
The $16.1 million Classic Lotto 47 jackpot has far surpassed the previous record which was $12,624,787. That prize was claimed in July 2007. The Classic Lotto 47 jackpot starts at $1 million and grows by at least $100,000 each time the jackpot is not won.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
