Winner grabs big prize

LANSING, July 5, 2007 – A very happy Albion woman claimed her $10,000 prize after she matched four white ball numbers, plus the Mega ball number in the June 26 Mega Millions drawing.

Janice Hays has been playing the Lottery for 15 years and said she carried the ticket in her purse before cashing it in. She plans to use the prize money to pay bills and go to the casino.

Her winning ticket was purchased at Albion Beer Well, 27815 C Dr. N, in Albion.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
