LANSING, May 15, 2007 – Scott Hicks told Lottery officials that his winning own pick Mega Millions numbers “just came to him”. His premonition earned him a whopping $10,000 by matching four white ball numbers and the gold Mega ball number in the April 27 drawing.
The Warren fisherman learned of his good fortune from the newspaper. He hid the ticket in his wallet and plans to use the own pick winnings to pay his debt.
Hicks purchased his lucky winning ticket at FMI Petro, 21376 Van Dyke Ave., in Warren.
Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
