Troy woman wins $10,000

LANSING, May 1, 2007 – A very lucky saleswoman is $10,000 richer, thanks to the Lottery’s Mega Millions game.  Stacy Byrnes matched four white ball numbers and the gold Mega ball number to win the third-tier prize.

The April 24 easy pick ticket win was a “shock” for Byrnes.  The lucky winner learned of her good fortune from a text message she received from the Lottery’s Player City Web site.  She plans to use the prize money to pay bills.  In her free time, she enjoys softball & skydiving.

The lucky winning ticket was purchased at Speedway #2290, 880 Maple Rd., in Troy.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
