LANSING, May 1, 2007 – Annie Fleming of Detroit is a lucky Mega Millions player! Fleming matched four white ball numbers and the gold Mega ball number in the March 9 drawing to win a $10,000 prize!
The winner completely forgot about her Mega Millions ticket that was “hidden” in her purse! One month after the March 9 ticket was drawn, Fleming checked for the winning numbers on the Lottery’s Web site. She told Lottery officials that she “cheered” from her good fortune.
The lucky winning ticket was purchased at Plymouth Levan Shell, 36420 Plymouth Rd., in Livonia.
Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million.
