LANSING, September 21, 2006 – A very lucky longtime Lottery player is $250,000 richer after he matched all five white balls, without matching the Mega ball, in the Sept. 1 Mega Millions drawing.
Bruce Woodbury, who said he enjoys playing the Mega Millions and Classic Lotto 47 games, claimed his prize today at the Lottery’s Lansing office.
He learned of his good fortune after checking a stack of old tickets his wife had collected. He then took the ticket to the store where he purchases his tickets to confirm it was a winner. He plans to use the money to pay bills.
The lucky easy pick ticket was purchased at Buamann’s IGA, 4130 E. Rosebush Rd., in Rosebush.
Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 10,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
