Shepherd club claims $10,000

LANSING, September 13, 2006 – A lucky Lottery club from Shepherd claimed a $10,000 prize from the Sept. 8 Mega Millions game.  The club matched four white ball numbers and the Mega ball to win the prize.

The members of West Shore Lottery Club are regular Mega Millions players.  They hid the winning ticket in a safe deposit box before redeeming it at the Lottery’s central office in Lansing.

The club purchased their easy pick ticket at Shepherd IGA, 520 E. Wright Ave., in Shepherd.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 10,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
