Redford woman cashes in

LANSING, August 25, 2006 – Melissa Thomas is a very lucky lady!  She won $35,000 when she scratched a winning Cashword ticket.

Thomas, who works as a Detroit city police officer, said plans to use the money to pay bills.

The ticket was purchased at HMA Mini Mart, 120 N. Middlebelt, in Garden City.

Cashword is just one of many Michigan Lottery Instant tickets available at more than 10,000 Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
