Don Meldrum of Algonac Wins $15,304 Michigan Rolldown Jackpot!

LANSING, July 29, 2002 – Don Meldrum of Algonac won a $15,304 jackpot prize upon matching all five numbers in the July 15 Michigan Rolldown drawing! The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were: 5, 6, 12, 13 and 33.

In total for the July 15 Michigan Rolldown drawing, 17,575 winners shared $53,522 in prizes. In addition to the sole jackpot winner, 52 winners matched four numbers to win a $120 prize; 1,807 matched three numbers to win a $9 prize; and 15,715 winners matched two numbers to win the $1 prize.

The lucky ticket was purchased at Sam’s Party Store Inc., 9299 Stone Road, in Algonac. Meldrum said he chose the winning number combination using family members’ birthdays.

"The store owner told me he had sold a jackpot-winning Rolldown ticket and that no one had claimed it," Meldrum said. "I went home and checked my tickets and could not believe I had the winning ticket!"

The 48-year-old winner, who works as an auto repair technician for Self Precision Collision, said he kept the winning ticket locked in a fire-proof safe at all times before turning it in at the Lottery’s regional office in Sterling Heights. He added that he plans to use his winnings to pay bills. There is no doubt he and his wife, Linda, will enjoy their recent Lottery luck!

Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held on February 28, 2000. Drawings are held six days a week—Monday through Saturday—at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available at more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
