LANSING, July 16, 2002 – It’s summertime, and the livin’ is lucky for Aftab Sheikh of Warren! Sheikh recently scratched off a Michigan Lottery "Livin’ Lucky" instant game ticket to reveal a $300,000 top prize.

The winning ticket was purchased at Mega Mile Gas & Mart, 3000 E. 8 Mile Road, in Detroit.

"I purchased the ticket over the weekend when I stopped at the gas station," Sheikh said. "I only bought one ticket, and I scratched it off right away. When I suspected it was a winner, I didn’t want to draw attention to myself, so I took the ticket to ask my neighbor if he thought it was a winner as well. He told me, ‘You have a big winner, I swear!’ I immediately called my family in Pakistan to share the good news!"

The lucky 37-year-old business owner said he kept the ticket hidden behind a photo in his home before turning it in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing. He added that he plans to use his winnings to pay bills and buy a new home. There is no doubt he and his family will enjoy their newfound fortune!
