LANSING, July 10, 2002 – Two lucky cousins are rolling in dough upon winning a $175,000 Mega Millions prize! The two members of the "TJDI Lottery Club" of Westland matched the first five numbers drawn in the July 5 Mega Millions drawing. The winning numbers for the July 5 drawing were: 11, 20, 26, 29, 41 and the Gold Mega Ball number was 41.
The winning "easy pick" Mega Millions ticket was purchased at Speedway #2201, 37416 7 Mile Road, in Livonia.
The two members of the "TJDI Lottery Club" include Tim Harbrucker of Romulus and Debra Igo of Westland. Igo said she kept the winning ticket locked in a safe prior to turning it in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing.
"I had the ticket with me all day Saturday," Igo, the club representative, said. "Tim called the Lottery’s toll free Lottery Link hotline (800-822-8888) to get the winning numbers. He told me we had matched five numbers and won a prize, and I just said, ‘Nice try!’ I thought he was kidding! We went to the gas station to get a winning number report, and I thought the gas station attendant was teasing me too. Finally, I realized we really had won $175,000! We are both very happy, surprised and excited—this is incredible!"
Igo, who works for Johnson’s Cleaning Company, said she plans use her winnings to pay bills, possibly purchase a new vehicle and share the remainder with her husband, Mark. Harbrucker, who works as a warehouse hi-lo driver for Bax Global, said he plans to use his portion of the winnings to pay bills, make home improvements and treat himself to a personal watercraft or a boat.
The club members added that they enjoy participating in a variety of activities in their free time. Igo enjoys bowling, reading and traveling, while Harbrucker likes to golf, fish, throw horseshoes and participate in many other outdoor sports. The two members want to encourage other Lottery players to play responsibly, and remind them that it only takes one ticket to win!
The last Big Game drawing took place on Tuesday, May 14. On Wednesday, May 15, The Big Game was replaced by Mega Millions. Mega Millions is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 7,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
