Nena Raab of Paris Cried Tears of Joy Upon Winning $150,000 Big Game Prize in April 26 Drawing!

LANSING, April 30, 2002 – Nena Raab of Paris went with her instincts when she chose her lucky number combination for the April 26 Big Game drawing—instead of purchasing an "easy pick" ticket, Raab selected her own combination of winning numbers that ended up winning her a $150,000 prize! The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were: 11, 12, 21, 39, 44 and the Big Money Ball number was 1.

The winning ticket was purchased at Quick Sav Food Store #18, 21060 19 Mile Road, in Big Rapids.

"I called the Lottery’s toll-free Lottery Link number (800-822-8888) to get the winning numbers," Raab said. "At first, I thought we had matched four numbers. Then, I read the numbers back to my husband while he checked the ticket a second time. When he said I had matched five instead of four, we began calling other retailers just to make sure we had heard the winning numbers right the first time. After they all confirmed the winning numbers, I started jumping up and down, and I was so happy I cried tears of joy!"

Raab, a homemaker, chose the winning numbers using a combination of family members’ ages, and said she kept the winning ticket under a magnet on the refrigerator, and later in her husband Ron’s wallet, before turning it in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing. She added that she plans to invest part of her winnings and use the rest to purchase a new car and a new home.

There is just one word of advice Raab wishes to offer to other Lottery hopefuls: "Play!"

The Big Game is a multistate Lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 7,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. The next Big Game drawing is tonight, Tuesday, April 30, with a guaranteed jackpot of $5 million.
