LANSING, April 30, 2002 – Good things do happen in threes, as a Harper Woods man recently discovered! The lucky man purchased three Michigan Rolldown tickets for the April 19 drawing and on each ticket he matched all five numbers, winning the entire jackpot in three separate shares! The combined prize was worth $19,302!
In total for the April 19 drawing, 22,299 winners shared $66,302 in prizes. In addition to the sole jackpot winner, 89 winners matched four numbers to win an $89 prize; 2,410 winners matched three numbers to win an $8 prize; and 19,799 winners matched two numbers to win a $1 prize.
The winning tickets were purchased at Universal Liquor, 19719 E. 14 Mile Road, in Clinton Township, and Cy’s Food Center #2, 33090 Groesbeck Hwy., in Fraser.
Persistence paid off for this lucky winner, who said he has played Michigan Lottery games for the past 20 years.
"I always use my favorite numbers when playing Rolldown," the winner said. "This time they turned out to be a very lucky combination!"
The lucky winner, who requested anonymity, is retired, and said he plans to share his winnings with his daughters and grandchildren. He added that he kept the winning ticket safely hidden in his home before turning it in at the Lottery’s regional office in Sterling Heights.
Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held on February 28, 2000. Drawings are held six days a week—Monday through Saturday—at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are
available at more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
