"Woodland Girls" Lottery Club of Brighton Wins $150,000 Big Game Prize in April 12 Drawing!

LANSING, April 23, 2002 – Pooling your resources with other Lottery players really does pay off, as a Livingston County Lottery club recently learned! The Woodland Girls Lottery Club of Brighton purchased a ticket that matched the first five drawn in the April 12 Big Game drawing to win a $150,000 prize! The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were 6, 13, 14, 17, 41 and the Big Money Ball number was 6.

The winning "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Buschs Valu Land #1086, 1325 East M-36, in Pinckney.

The 18 members of the "Woodland Girls" Lottery Club each received an $8,333 prize, before taxes:

Diane Amato of Brighton
Teresa Basile of Fenton
Jeanne Creech of Whitmore Lake
Jocelyne Dery of Fenton
Jennifer Drury of Howell
Sylvia Eads of Fenton
Heather Eubanks of Hartland
Michell Jones of Brighton
Lynn Martel of Brighton
June McLean of Howell
Crystal Molitor of Howell
Janet O’Brien of Hartland
Renee Raddatz of Fowlerville
Janice Rolando of Linden
Elise Shaw of Howell
Laura Smith of Brighton
Kellie Urban of Dansville
Coleen Woida of Howell

"We all had copies of the ticket so everyone could get excited at the same time if we won," said Heather Eubanks, club representative. "We saw the winning numbers on WDIV-TV 4 and were all very excited about winning a $150,000 prize!"

The members of the "Woodland Girls" Lottery Club, who work at a medical facility in Brighton, kept the ticket in one member’s china cabinet before claiming the prize at Lottery headquarters in Lansing. They were not worried about something happening to the ticket, however, because that member has a "very good guard dog!"

Some club members have already made plans for their winnings, including paying bills, making home improvements, sharing with family members, and funding an animal rescue program that two members operate independently.

"We started the club because other employees where we work belonged to Lottery clubs, and it sounded like a lot of fun," Eubanks said. "We figured it was only $2 per person for us to play as a club, so why not go for it?"

The Big Game is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 7,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. The next Big Game drawing is tonight, Tuesday, April 23, with an estimated jackpot of $7 million.
