LANSING, April 5, 2002 – Jake Kelly of St. Ignace was shocked to learn he possessed a Michigan Rolldown ticket worth $17,765 for the February 25 drawing! The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were: 5, 14, 16, 21 and 25.
The winning ticket was purchased at Holiday #204, Rt. #2 Box 191H, US 2W, in St. Ignace.
In total for the February 25 drawing, 18,262 winners shared $59,429 in prizes. In addition to the sole jackpot winner, 66 winners matched four numbers to win a $110 prize; 1,801 winners matched three numbers to win a $10 prize; and 16,394 matched two numbers to win the $1 prize.
"I stopped at the store where I purchased the ticket after dropping my wife off at work," Kelly said. "It was then that I picked up a winning number report and learned that I had won the jackpot! Unfortunately, there wasn’t much I could do until the banks opened! I was in disbelief!"
Kelly said he kept the winning ticket in his wallet before claiming his prize at the Lottery’s bank claim center in St. Ignace. He said he has played Lottery games for the past 12 years, but added that he is particularly fond of Rolldown—and not simply because of his recent good fortune!
"I like the Rolldown game because it has great chances for people to win prizes. It may not have a million-dollar jackpot, but a lot of people can win when they play!" Kelly said.
In addition to paying bills, Kelly added that he and his wife, Fay, saved some of their winnings to take a vacation next winter.
Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held on February 28, 2000. Drawings are held six days a week—Monday through Saturday—at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available at more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
