LANSING, June 29, 2001 — Helen Hester of Romulus experienced a little Lottery luck after matching all five numbers in the June 21 Michigan Rolldown drawing to win a $7,427 prize! Hester split the jackpot with two other winners. Clifford Munson of St. Joseph collected his $7,427 prize earlier this month, while the other winner has not yet claimed his or her prize!
The total jackpot prize pool for the June 21 drawing was $22,281, so each jackpot winner received $7,427, before taxes. In total for the June 21 Michigan Rolldown drawing, 25,449 winners shared $76,954 in prizes. In addition to the three winners who split the jackpot, there were 132 winners who matched four numbers for a prize of $69; 2,893 winners who matched three numbers for a prize of $8; and 22,421 winners who matched two numbers for the $1 prize.
The 68-year-old winner, a retiree from the Melvindale School District, purchased the winning Michigan Rolldown ticket at Golden Gallon Food Store, 37575 W. Huron River Dr., in Romulus.
“I learned I had won after checking the winning numbers in the newspaper,” said Hester.
“I was very happy to learn I had won.”
Hester said she chose her winning number combination based upon the birthdays of family members. The lucky lady, who has been playing the Michigan Rolldown game for just three weeks, said she has no special plans for her winnings at this time.
