LANSING, July 11, 2000 — David Walter of Waterford has adopted the number eight as his new lucky number! The lucky guy recently scratched off a Michigan Lottery "Lucky Eight Ball" instant ticket to reveal he had won a $35,000 top prize!
"I was numb and totally dazed when I looked at the ticket," Walter said. "I had to look at the ticket at least ten times before I was completely sure I had a winner!"
In addition to being a photography buff and an avid fisherman, the 51-year-old winner said he truly enjoys playing Michigan Lottery games. He added that the instant games are his favorites!
The assembler at General Motors purchased the winning "Lucky Eight Ball" ticket at Gabe’s Party Shoppe, 3843 Elizabeth Lake Road, in Waterford.
Prior to turning the winning ticket in at the Lottery’s regional office in Sterling Heights, Walter said he kept it in his "sock drawer" to ensure its safety.
Walter said he plans to use his winnings to pay off his car and then buy a new car for his wife, Mary.
"Lucky Eight Ball" is just one of many Michigan Lottery instant tickets available at more than 9,300 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
