LANSING, June 6, 2000 — George Reddick of Detroit could hardly believe his eyes when he recently scratched off a Michigan Lottery "Lucky Mom" instant ticket to reveal he had won a $25,000 prize!
"I was still at the store when I scratched the ticket off," Reddick said.
"I wanted to jump for joy, but I stayed calm and had the store clerk check the ticket to verify that it really was a winner. When he said it was a winner I thanked the Lord above and headed straight for the Lottery office!"
The 62-year-old winner said he has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past 27 years and he truly enjoys the wide variety of games offered.
The machinist purchased the winning "Lucky Mom" instant ticket at Joe’s General Store, 23201 Hoover Road, in Warren.
Prior to turning the winning ticket in at the Lottery’s regional office in Detroit, Reddick said he kept it with him at all times to ensure its safety.
The avid reader said he plans to use his winnings to pay bills and help his daughter pay for her college tuition.
Michigan Lottery instant tickets are available at more than 9,300 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
