Playing on a Hunch Wins Lucky Redford Man a Bunch!

LANSING, February 2, 2000 — A Redford man said his daughter had a hunch he was going to win big on a Michigan Lottery game. Her hunch really paid off for the lucky Redford man when he discovered he had won the $100,000 top prize in the Lottery’s Cash 5 game!

The winner, who requested anonymity, matched all five numbers in the January 27 Cash 5 drawing — 5, 8, 10, 12 and 23. The winning Cash 5 ticket was purchased at Sunshine Market, 27342 Joy Road, in Redford.

"When I saw the drawing I initially thought I had only matched four numbers," the winner said. "Later that night I saw the numbers again on the news, and that’s when I realized I won the top prize. I was so excited I yelled, ‘I got it!’"

When not golfing, fishing or gardening, the Redford man said he enjoys playing Michigan Lottery games. He said he has been playing Lottery games for the past 27 years and he truly enjoys the wide variety of games offered.

Prior to turning the winning Cash 5 ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the retiree said he kept it in a "safe place" in his house. The lucky man said he plans to share his winnings with his family and take a trip.

The winner offered the following words of wisdom to other Lottery hopefuls: "You just have to be lucky to win. If you have a hunch, you should buy a ticket — you could win a bunch!"

Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday through Friday at 7:28 p.m. Tickets are available for Cash 5 and other Michigan Lottery on-line games at more than 6,400 Lottery retailers throughout the state.
