Saginaw Man Cashes in on Lottery's Cash 5 Game!

LANSING, February 2, 2000 — A Saginaw man is enjoying new-found wealth after winning the $100,000 top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Cash 5 game!

The 54-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, matched all five numbers in the January 25 drawing — 7, 8, 10, 27 and 34. The winning Cash 5 "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Shattuck Market, 417 Shattuck Road, in Saginaw.

"I saw the winning numbers in the newspaper," the winner said. "I couldn’t believe it. At first I wasn’t going to tell a soul that I had won. I finally decided to tell my wife and one other family member!"

When not hiking or hunting, the Saginaw man said he enjoys playing Michigan Lottery games. He said he has been playing Lottery games for the past 10 years and his favorites are Michigan Lotto, The Big Game and, of course, Cash 5.

Prior to turning the winning Cash 5 ticket in at Lottery headquarters, the machine operator placed it in several different safe places in his home.

"I couldn’t decide where I wanted to hide the ticket," the winner said. "I kept changing the location of the ticket over and over the night before I turned it into the Lottery!"

The lucky man said he plans to apply his winnings toward the purchase of a new home.

Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday through Friday at 7:28 p.m. Tickets are available for Cash 5 and other Michigan Lottery on-line games at more than 6,400 Lottery retailers throughout the state.
