Two Wayne County Residents Win Big With The Michigan Lottery!

LANSING, January 13, 2000 — Two Wayne County residents are carrying around a little more pocket change after winning big on Michigan Lottery games!

A Melvindale man, who requested anonymity, is wearing a big smile after winning the $100,000 top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Cash 5 game! He matched all five numbers in the January 5, 2000 drawing. That day’s winning numbers were: 13, 15, 21, 25 and 31.

"I saw the winning numbers in the Detroit Free Press," the winner said. "I was so surprised to see that I had matched all five that I checked the numbers again in the Detroit News and on the Lottery’s Web site (www.state.mi.us/milottery). What a great feeling! It still doesn’t seem real."

The Melvindale man purchased the winning Cash 5 "easy pick" ticket at Melvindale Fill Up Inc., 4310 Oakwood Blvd., in Melvindale. Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the lucky man kept it in his wallet to ensure its safety. The winner said he plans to use part of his winnings to pay bills and save the rest.

Apparently Wayne County residents are on a lucky streak, as Haider Al-Abed of Dearborn won a great Michigan Lottery prize as well.

Al-Abed could hardly believe his eyes when he scratched of a Michigan Lottery "Stocking Stuffer" instant ticket to reveal he had won $10,000!

Al-Abed said he has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past year and his favorites are the instant tickets. The lucky man purchased the winning "Stocking Stuffer" ticket at Brittany Gas & Oil Inc., 17700 E. 9 Mile Road, in Eastpointe.

Tickets are available for Cash 5 and other Michigan Lottery on-line games at more than 6,400 Lottery retailers throughout the state, while Michigan Lottery instant games can be purchased at over 9,300 Lottery retailers statewide.
