LANSING, September 17, 1999 — A Detroit woman recently found out first-hand that people really do win big money from the Michigan Lottery. The lucky lady was the latest to find a $100,000 prize in the Lottery’s "Millennium Millions" instant game!
"Rest assured, it’s for real!" said the winner, who requested anonymity. "We didn’t believe these large tickets really existed until now."
The 62-year-old winner said she has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past seven years and she enjoys the variety of games the Lottery offers.
"I scratched the ticket off at home and could hardly believe my eyes," she said. "I showed the ticket to everyone in the room with me and only one other person believed it was really a $100,000 winner!"
The winning ticket was purchased at Falcon Drugs, 6103 Charles St., in Detroit. Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the winner said she hid it in a safe place in her home.
The retiree said she plans to use her winnings to make home improvements and pay for other everyday expenses.
"Millennium Millions" is just one of many Michigan Lottery instant tickets available at more than 9,300 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
