LANSING, August 9, 1999 — April Johnson of Burt was surprised beyond belief when she scratched off a Michigan Lottery "Wild Card Cash" instant ticket to reveal she had won the $21,000 top prize!

The 24-year-old winner purchased the lucky ticket at Good Times Market, 9538 East Street, in Burt. Johnson said she couldn’t believe her eyes when she scratched off the ticket.

"I was so excited," she said. "I couldn’t believe I had actually won! I asked the owner of the store to look at the ticket to verify that I had won."

The bank teller at Bank One said she has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past six years, and her favorites are the instant games.

Prior to turning the winning ticket in at the Lottery’s regional office in Bridgeport, Johnson kept it in a safe-deposit box. The lucky lady plans to use her winnings to pay bills and take her children shopping.
