Garden City Lottery Club Wins $100,000 In Michigan Lottery's Cash 5 Game For The Second Time In Two Weeks!

LANSING, May 26, 1999 – Exactly two weeks after winning the $100,000 top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Cash 5 game, a five-member Lottery club from Garden City hit the Cash 5 jackpot yet again, winning a second $100,000 prize!

The club members, who chose to remain anonymous, matched all five numbers – 12, 14, 19, 21 and 36 – in the May 20 drawing.  The second winning Cash 5 ticket was purchased at the same store as the first one – Mid Warren Party Store, 6883 Middlebelt Road, in Garden City.

"I watched the Cash 5 drawing on WDIV-TV 4," one of the club members said.  "I immediately called two of the other club members to tell them we had won again!  We were even more surprised this time – it’s like lightning struck twice!"

The winners, who work together at Link Engineering in Plymouth, said they always choose their own numbers.  Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the club representative held onto it for safe-keeping.

Club members said they have a variety of plans for their winnings including: sharing it with their families, paying for children’s college tuition and buying a boat.

"I paid my bills with my first Cash 5 winnings check," said the club’s representative.  "I will have to find something else to do with the money this time!"

The lucky club members offered the following advice to other Lottery hopefuls: "Spend a buck and win a bunch!"

Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday through Friday at 7:28 p.m.  Players can win $100,000 for matching all five numbers; $350 for matching four of five numbers drawn; or $20 for matching three of five numbers drawn.

Tickets are available for Cash 5 and other Michigan Lottery on-line games at more than 6,400 Lottery retailers throughout the state.
