LANSING, May 25, 1999 – Ethel Schrauben of Grand Rapids got the best Mother’s Day present ever recently when she won the $25,000 top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s "Lucky Mom" instant game!
"I kept rubbing the flowers off the ticket," Schrauben said. "There were lots of tears, shouting and happy smiles when I saw what I had won!"
Prior to turning the winning ticket in at the Lottery’s regional office in Wyoming, the retiree had her daughter keep it at her house to ensure its safety. The craft enthusiast said she plans to use her winnings to pay bills.
The 66-year-old winner said she is a regular Michigan Lottery player, and she particularly enjoys playing the instant games and Keno.
The winning ticket was purchased at Hillcrest Food and Fuel Inc., 1612 142nd Ave., in Dorr. "Lucky Mom" is just one of many Michigan Lottery instant tickets available at more than 9,300 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
