Flint Lottery Club Wins $150,000 Big Game Prize!

LANSING, January 26, 1999 – The six members of a Flint lottery club started off the new year right – they’re the latest winners of a top Michigan Lottery prize!

The "Four Plus Two" lottery club matched the first five numbers drawn in the January 1 Big Game drawing, collecting the game’s $150,000 prize.  That day’s winning numbers were: 11, 19, 28, 43, 48 and the Big Money Ball number was 5.

Club members, who range in age from 47 to 55 and work together at Flint Metal Fabrication, include:

  • Carlene Anderson of Flint
  • Leroy Howd of Flint
  • James Kiczenski of Mt. Morris
  • Charletta Recard of Burton
  • Fred Rubin of Flint
  • Richard Wilbur of Burton

"I saw the winning numbers in the Flint Journal," Fred Rubin, the club’s representative, said.  "Some of the club members didn’t believe me when I told them that we had won.  They were surprised we had won since we have only been playing as a club for eight months!"

The winning Big Game "easy pick" ticket was purchased at JP’s Party Store, 2096 E. Judd Road, in Burton.

Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the group placed the winning ticket in a safe deposit box.  None of the club members have any specific plans for their winnings yet – they said they are "still thinking about it."

Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m.  The next Big Game drawing will be conducted tonight – the expected jackpot is $40 million!
