LANSING, January 8, 1999 – A 32-year-old Clinton Township woman recently got the gift of a lifetime when she won the $1 million top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s "$1,000,000 Gift" instant game.
"I had purchased several ‘$1,000,000 Gift’ tickets to give away as Christmas presents and bought a few for myself," she said. "When I realized that I had actually won a million dollars I started shaking! I couldn’t believe it!"
The winner, who requested anonymity, purchased the winning ticket at Clark #1657, 322 S. Main St., in Romeo. Prior to turning the ticket in at Michigan Lottery headquarters, she placed it in a safety deposit box for safe-keeping.
The Clinton Township woman, who has been a regular Lottery player for the past 10 years, already has special plans for her winnings. She said she plans to start her own family-owned business, take trips to Hawaii and Jamaica, buy a new car for herself, purchase a truck and a boat for her brothers and spoil her nephews.
For other Lottery hopefuls, the winner offered the following advice: "You can’t win if you don’t play!"
"$1,000,000 Gift" is just one of many Michigan Lottery instant tickets available at more than 9,300 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
