Harrison Township Man Wins $100,000 in Cash 5 Drawing!

LANSING, October 13, 1998 – A Harrison Township man recently "cashed in" when he won the $100,000 top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Cash 5 game!

The 86-year-old winner, who requested anonymity, matched all five numbers – 4, 11, 14, 20 and 26 – in the October 8 drawing.  The winning Cash 5 "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Metro Party Shoppe, 38666 Jefferson Ave., in Harrison Township.

"I heard the winning numbers on WDIV," he said.  "I was shocked when I realized I had won!  I called my brother right away and said ‘I think I have a winner.’"

Prior to collecting his prize at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the Harrison Township man hid the winning ticket in a safe place in his apartment.  He said he doesn’t have any special plans for his winnings yet, other than to spend it on something he will enjoy.

Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Odds to win the $100,000 prize are 1 in 575,757.  Tickets are available at more than 6,400 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
