Dennis Caliguri Of Eastpointe And Robert Penman Of Southgate Each Win $150,000 In The Lottery's Big Game!

LANSING, February 3, 1998 – Dennis Caliguri of Eastpointe and Robert Penman of Southgate started the year off in a big way – each matched the first five numbers in a Big Game drawing to win the $150,000 prize!

Caliguri recently came forward to collect his prize from the November 28, 1997 drawing.  That day’s winning numbers were: 4, 20, 27, 29, 39, and the Big Money Ball number was 11.

"I watched ‘Road to Riches’ and it prompted me to check some of my old tickets," said Caliguri.  "At first I thought I’d won $5,000, and then I called Fairway Drugs to double-check.  They said it was worth $150,000 and I almost fainted."

Caliguri has been a regular Michigan Lottery player for 25 years.  He plans to use his Big Game winnings to purchase a new home and make investments.

The winning Big Game "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Fairway Drugs, 19332 E. 10 Mile Road, in Eastpointe.

Southgate resident Robert Penman said it was an all-around "exciting experience" when he learned he won $150,000 in the January 16, 1998 Big Game drawing.  That day’s winning numbers were: 4, 5, 13, 24, 33, and the Big Money Ball number was 11.

"I read the numbers in the paper, then I got my tickets," said Penman.  "I didn’t scream or anything because I wanted to tell my wife first.  We told our kids later and it was just an exciting experience."

Penman, a regular Michigan Lottery player for 25 years, said he will share part of his Big Game winnings with his family and put the rest toward retirement and home improvements.

The winning Big Game "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Foodland 333-02, 14155 Eureka Road, in Southgate.

The Big Game drawings are conducted every Friday at 11 p.m.  Tickets are available at more than 6,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
