Dan Gaffney Of Lansing Wins $150,000 Big Game Prize!

LANSING, October 29, 1997 – Dan Gaffney of Lansing is the latest Michigan Lottery player to come up big in The Big Game!

Gaffney matched the first five numbers in the October 10 Big Game drawing to win the $150,000 prize.  That day’s winning numbers were: 12, 21, 31, 43, 45, and the Big Money Ball number was 14.

"I checked my numbers in the paper, and then I called my wife to have her take a look at the ticket," said Gaffney when he came to Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim his prize.  "At first we thought there must be some mistake – but then we did an awful lot of smiling!"

Gaffney, 53, has been a regular Michigan Lottery player for 25 years.  He plans to use his Big Game winnings to pay bills and to finance his children’s college expenses.

The winning "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Paramount News Center #4, 300 Washington Square S., in Lansing.

The Big Game offers nine ways to win cash prizes.  Players pay $1 for each play, and choose five numbers from 1 to 50, as well as one additional number from 1 to 25.

Friday’s (October 31) Big Game drawing is estimated at $5 million.
