Genesee County Man Wins $500,000 Playing Michigan Lottery’s Silver 7’s Instant Game

Winning TicketA Genesee County man is $500,000 richer after playing the Michigan Lottery’s Silver 7’s instant game for the first time.

The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, won his big prize with a ticket he bought at Gino’s Quik Stop, located at 8464 West Mount Morris Road in Flushing.

“I’ll occasionally buy an instant ticket when I’m in a convenience store and the Silver 7’s game caught my eye on Tuesday,” said the player. “I bought three of the Silver 7’s tickets and put them in my truck sun visor and actually forgot about them until Wednesday afternoon.

“The first one I scratched was the big winner, so I gave the other two to co-workers and one of those tickets was a winner as well. My boss told me to get home and get my ticket into a safe place.”

With his winnings, the player plans to buy a new home and car, take a family vacation, and then invest the remainder.

For just $5, each Silver 7’s ticket gives players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $500,000. More than $20 million in prizes remain in the game, including two $500,000 top prizes and 49 $2,000 prizes. The Silver 7’s game launched on March 3.

Michigan Lottery instant game tickets are available at retailers across the state.

New World Class Millions Instant Game Offers Players $4 Million Top Prizes

World Class Millions TicketStarting Tuesday, Michigan Lottery players will have another chance to win up to $4 million instantly thanks to the new World Class Millions instant game.

The Lottery’s newest $30 instant game, World Class Millions, gives players more than 30 opportunities to win on each ticket. It also features three top prizes of $4 million, matching the largest prizes offered on a Lottery instant game. In total, the game offers more than $40 million in prizes ranging from $100 up to $4 million.

World Class Millions is the third $30 instant game offered by the Lottery. Most recently, $100,000,000 Diamonds was introduced in September 2014 and is a popular game among players. With all four of the game’s $4 million top prizes, 267 $4,000 prizes, and 5,912 $1,000 prizes remaining, $100,000,000 Diamonds continues to be a favorite with players.

Both World Class Millions and $100,000,000 Diamonds may be purchased at Lottery retailers across the state.

Detroit Man Wins $1 Million Mega Millions Prize

Winning TicketA Detroit man is on the fast track to retirement after winning $1 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s Mega Millions game.

Fred Morgan matched the first five winning numbers – 15-18-29-41-50 – drawn on April 17 to win the big prize. He bought his winning ticket at the Mobil gas station, located at 25828 Ford Road in Dearborn Heights.

“I checked my ticket the day after the drawing and it wouldn’t scan in the self-scanner,” said Morgan. “I asked the clerk to check it for me and he said: ‘It looks like you’ve got something here, you’d better sign it.’

“I left thinking I’d won $10,000 and called my wife on my way home to share the good news. I looked at the prize table when I got home and I was speechless.”

Morgan was in shock and couldn’t believe he was a millionaire.

“I felt full all over and couldn’t eat or sleep for three days,” he said.

Morgan and his wife hid the winning ticket in various spots around their home, including in a container of flour, while they put together a financial plan before claiming the prize.

“We watched that ticket carefully,” said Morgan. “We thought somebody may look in the sugar jar, but no one would ever check for anything valuable in the flour.”

A letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years, Morgan’s big win has accelerated his retirement plans.

“I started cleaning out my locker at work and my boss asked me what was going on,” said Morgan. “I told him ‘I got a million and I’m retiring!’

“At first, he and my co-workers thought I was joking, but they couldn’t be happier about my good fortune.”

After retirement, Morgan and his wife plan to travel and enjoy life.

“I can’t even really put into words how this feels, but I do know I feel relieved and excited!”

Mega Millions drawings take place each Tuesday and Friday evening. Each Mega Millions play is only $1. For an additional $1 per play, players have the opportunity to add a “Megaplier” that can multiply non-jackpot prizes by up to five times.

Mega Millions tickets may be purchased at the Lottery’s 11,000 retailers around the state until 10:45 p.m. the day of the drawing. Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot is $96 million.

Lotto 47 Jackpot Tops $5 Million

If a player wins Wednesday’s Lotto 47 jackpot, it would be the largest Lotto 47 jackpot won this year. It also would mark the third time the game’s jackpot has been won in 2015. To win the jackpot, players must match all six of the numbers drawn.

In January, the Lotto 47 jackpot was won twice, with the big wins coming just a week apart.

On Jan. 17, one ticket matched the six Lotto 47 numbers drawn – 04-06-16-26-33-36 – to win a $3.5 million jackpot. The winning ticket was bought at the Pellston General Store, located at 45 North U.S. 31 in Pellston. One week later, a lucky player matched the six Lotto 47 numbers drawn Jan. 24 – 02-04-14-17-27-30 – to win a $1 million jackpot. That ticket was bought at the E&A Pit Stop, located at 5586 East Apple Avenue in Muskegon.

The winner of the $3.5 million Lotto 47 jackpot from Jan. 17 has yet to come forward. The winning ticket holder should contact the Michigan Lottery Public Relations Division at (517) 373-1237 to schedule an appointment to collect the big prize. The prize must be claimed at the Lottery’s headquarters in Lansing. Tickets for Lotto 47 are valid for one year from the drawing date.

Each Lotto 47 play is only $1. Players select six numbers from one to 47 for a chance to win a jackpot starting at $1 million and that grows until someone wins it. For an additional $1 per game, players may add EZMatch to their ticket for a chance to win up to $500 instantly. Lotto 47 drawings take place on Wednesday and Saturday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets may be purchased until 7:08 p.m. on the day of the drawing.

On A Roll: Taylor Man Wins Third Big Lottery Prize in as Many Months

A Taylor man is on a roll, winning three large Michigan Lottery prizes in as many months including his latest prize: a $193,735 Fantasy 5 jackpot.

Brian Presnell won the largest Lottery prize of his lucky streak by matching the winning Fantasy 5 numbers drawn on April 16: 07-09-13-19-35. He bought his winning ticket at the Get and Go Market, located at 10950 Beech Daly Road in Taylor.

The Fantasy 5 jackpot is the third large Lottery prize won by Presnell in recent months. His lucky run began in February when he won $2,500 playing Lotto 47. In March, he won $5,000 and $2,604 playing the Daily 4 game.

Presnell, a golf enthusiast, plans to use his newfound wealth to take a long golf vacation and pay bills.

Each Fantasy 5 play is only $1. For an additional $1 per play, EZmatch may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a chance to win up to $500 instantly. Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39. Players who match all five Fantasy 5 numbers drawn win a jackpot guaranteed to start at $100,000. Fantasy 5 drawings are held seven days a week at 7:29 p.m. Tonight’s Fantasy 5 jackpot is $120,000.
