Fast Cash games are a series of instant-win games that print from terminals at Lottery retailers. Fast Cash tickets range in price from $2 per play up to $20 per play.

Fast Cash games offer a progressive jackpot that can be won instantly. Every Fast Cash ticket gives players a chance to win all or part of the progressive jackpot.

All of the Fast Cash games feed into one jackpot, which grows with every ticket purchased. The current jackpot amount prints on each ticket, so players always know the amount of the jackpot up for grabs. The jackpot may be won at any time. As soon as the jackpot is hit, a new one starts to grow.

Available Fast Cash games are:

  • Wild Time Progressive – Each $2 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $2 up to $500 and 20 percent of the Fast Cash progressive jackpot.
  • 20X The Cash – Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $2,500 and 50 percent of the Fast Cash progressive jackpot.
  • Diamond Wild Time Progressive – Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $3,000 and 50 percent of the Fast Cash progressive jackpot.

Wisconsin Man Wins $25,000 a Year for Life Playing Lucky For Life

A Wisconsin man was “in a daze” for days after winning a $25,000 a year for life playing the Michigan Lottery’s Lucky For Life game.

Curtis Olson, of Grand View, Wisc., matched the five white balls drawn Oct. 31 – 05-07-11-21-29 – to win $25,000 a year for life. He bought his winning ticket at The Corner Store/Bar, located at 213 East Cloverland Drive in Ironwood.

“I have been playing the same set of number for four years,” said Olson. “I checked the numbers online the morning after the drawing, as I always do, and recognized them right away. I was in a daze for a few days after winning because I just couldn’t believe it. My wife and I feel like we are on cloud nine.”

Olson, 62, visited Lottery headquarters to claim his big prize. He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump sum payment of $390,000, rather than annuity payments of $25,000 for 20 years or life, whichever is greater.

With his winnings, he plans to pay bills and live comfortably.

“Winning is life-changing. It feels good knowing that when unexpected situations come up, such as a car breaking down, we no longer have to worry about it financially,” Olson said.

For just $2 per play, Lucky For Life gives Lottery players a chance to win prizes ranging from $3 to a lifetime of cash. To win the game’s top prize of $1,000 a day for life, players must match all five winning numbers ranging from 1 to 48, plus one Lucky Ball ranging from 1 to 18. Players who match all five winning numbers, but not the Lucky Ball, will win $25,000 a year for life. Drawings take place at 10:38 p.m. seven days-a-week. Tickets may be purchased at Lottery retailers across the state and online at MichiganLottery.com.

Monroe County Educator Wins Excellence in Education Award from the Michigan Lottery

A Monroe County educator known for using diverse instruction methods has been honored with an Excellence in Education award from the Michigan Lottery.

The award winner, Nicole Bahny, is a middle school English teacher at Dundee Middle School. The school is part of Dundee Community Schools.

The Michigan Lottery established the Excellence in Education awards in 2014 to recognize outstanding public-school educators across the state during the school year.

Winners of the weekly award receive a plaque, a $1,500 cash prize, and a $500 grant to their classroom, school, or school district. One of the weekly winners will be selected as the Educator of the Year and will receive a $10,000 cash prize.

Each winner also is featured in a news segment on the Lottery’s media partner stations: WXYZ-TV in Detroit, FOX 17 in Grand Rapids, FOX 47 in Lansing, and WNEM-TV in Saginaw. The news segment featuring Bahny will air this evening.

Bahny said she always wanted to be a teacher and the challenges presented by a career as an educator drew her to the profession.

“I have always wanted to be a teacher. I enjoy helping others and seeing how creative I can be in the classroom. I like to learn about new teaching tools and techniques and challenge myself to create new lessons and activities to keep things fresh for myself and my students.”

Bahny said the unique activities she does with students are her favorite part of being an educator.

“I really enjoy the annual events and special activities we do in class. The Bahny Awards is a time when we work to award the best characters, novels, and other lesson related things. It’s a big deal for students and allows them to show their creativity by dressing up as characters and walking the red carpet in my room complete with paparazzi for an awards show.”

A colleague nominated Bahny for the award. The nomination cited her creativity and ability to engage students.

“Mrs. Bahny engages her children using a wide variety of differentiated instruction. Each year she hosts the Bahny Awards where her seventh-grade classes read books throughout the year and nominate, books and characters for things such as ‘best book,’ ‘best main character,’ ’best supporting character,’ etc. The students wear dress clothes the day of the awards and Mrs. Bahny and her co-teacher wear formal attire. They have a red carpet and six-inch cardboard statues that are in likeness of the statue of the academy awards. This is a great way to engage students in learning at all levels, while having fun. This is just one example of Mrs. Bahny’s creativity and her love for teaching and engaging her middle-school students.”

Bahny earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Central Michigan University. She has been an educator for 12 years, seven with the Dundee Community Schools.

Outstanding public-school educators may be nominated for an Excellence in Education award at http://bit.ly/ExcellenceInEducation or through the websites of the Lottery’s media partner stations.
