Lottery winners claim millions in Super Raffle prizes

LANSING, October 23, 2007 – Seven lucky Michigan Lottery players claimed millions in prizes Tuesday, just one day after the Super Raffle drawing.

Leading the way were $2 million winners Kendall Stevens of Marlett and an anonymous player.

Stevens, who purchased his winning ticket at Murphy’s USA in Sandusky, “about had a heart attack” when he realized it was worth $2 million. Stevens and his wife Holly plan to invest their winnings.

The anonymous $2 million winner purchased the lucky ticket at Van’s Party Store in Eastpointe. The winner, a regular Lottery player, thought he was dreaming when he realized he held a winning ticket. He has no plans for the prize money yet.

Claiming $100,000 prizes were an anonymous winner who purchased a ticket from Tobacco Superstore in Farmington Hills; an anonymous St. Clair Shores winner who purchased a ticket at Jefferson Liquor in St. Clair Shores; and an anonymous winner who purchased a ticket from Jan’s Party Store in Bay City; An anonymous Kalamazoo club who purchased a ticket from Portage Road Shell in Portage will use the winnings to pay off loans, get a new roof and have the kitchen redone. Another anonymous winner, from Eaton Rapids, who purchased a winning ticket at Felpausch in Eaton Rapids will use the money toward moving into a new home.

The first Super Raffle prize was claimed by Barbara Reinke of St. Charles, who bought her winning $100,000 ticket at the Kroger store on Gratiot in Saginaw.

Monday’s Super Raffle was for two $2 million prizes (annuitized), 25 $100,000 prizes and 4,500 $500 prizes. The Super Raffle was the fifth Raffle game offered by the Lottery

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2006, the contribution was $688 million

Super Raffle win is second big prize for St. Charles player

LANSING, October 23, 2007 – Barbara Reinke is one lucky Lottery player—times two!

The 53 year-old St. Charles woman was the first winner to claim a $100,000 prize after Monday’s Super Raffle drawing, but it wasn’t her first time in the Lottery’s winner room.  Reinke, a regular Lottery player since 2005, won a $115,002 Fantasy 5 jackpot in March of 2006!

Reinke discovered her Super Raffle yesterday win when she checked the Lottery’s Web site and saw that a $100,000 ticket had been sold at the Kroger store on Gratiot in Saginaw.  Realizing that was where she’d purchased her ticket, she checked the numbers and found that luck has struck twice.

While she used her Fantasy 5 winnings for several special purchases, including a new floor, a car for her daughter, a computer for her granddaughter, furniture and windows for her home, Reinke said she’ll invest her Super Raffle winnings and also use the money to help her daughter.

Already a big winner twice, Reinke is confident she’ll win again—next time on Keno!

Tuesday’s Super Raffle was for two $2 million prizes (annuitized), 25 $100,000 prizes and 4,500 $500 prizes.  The Super Raffle was the fifth Raffle game offered by the Lottery.

Super Raffle numbers drawn

LANSING, October 22, 2007 – Winners galore!  Over 4,500 lucky Super Raffle players can now claim their big prizes ranging from $500 to the top prize of $2 million!

In drawing No. 5 conducted earlier today 4,527 numbers were selected at random.  Two top prizes of $2 million, 25 prizes of $100,000 and 4,500 prizes of $500 winner be awarded to the lucky ticket holders.

Niles man wins big in Michigan Lottery drawing

LANSING, October 22, 2007 – Yellow is a lucky color for Charles Conn of Niles.

Conn was the lucky winner in the Michigan Lottery’s $2 million drawing at Ford Field yesterday when the prize wheel stopped on yellow, the color of the shirt Conn had randomly been given.

The Niles man was shocked at his luck, saying doesn’t know how he’ll spend his winnings.

Conn was one of five finalists from around the state who participated in the drawing during the third quarter of the Detroit Lions-Tampa Bay Bucanneers game.  The five were chosen from a pool of 793 players who had won $1,000 on one of the Lottery’s $20 Instant tickets: “Mega Bucks Jackpot”, “2,000,000 Cash Winfall”, “Millionaire’s Club”, “$2,000,000 Explosion”, and “$35,000,000 Riches”.

The remaining four finalists, who each received $5,000, were Connie Keely of Sterling, Melody Rose of Pickford, Charles Weatherholt of Rockwood and John Ouellette of Monroe.

Player gets "Lucky Roll"

LANSING, October 18, 2007 – It was a big money win for one lucky Benton Harbor player! Johnetta Shaw scratched a winning Lucky Roll ticket and won $25,000!

The winner said she “couldn’t stop shaking” once she realized her ticket was a big winner.  She plans to use the money to pay off her house.

The lucky winning ticket was purchased at Smiley’s Mobil, 4107 Red Arrow Hwy., in Stevensville.
