Wayne County Man Wins $2 Million Playing Michigan Lottery’s Big Money Pay Day Instant Game

Winning TicketA Wayne County man is looking forward to becoming debt-free after winning $2 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s Big Money Pay Day instant game!

“I bought a Big Money Pay Day ticket late one night and scratched it when I got in my car before heading home,” said the lucky 37-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous. “When I saw I’d won $2 million, I was in complete shock!

“I buy scratch-off tickets all the time and have won smaller prizes, but I honestly never thought I’d win a big prize like this, so I feel over the moon excited and blessed.”

The player bought his winning ticket at Safeway Market Inc., located at 8031 Dix Street in Detroit. He recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $1.3 million rather than annuity payments for the full amount.

“This big win will allow me to pay off all my debt and then I plan to save the rest of the money for whatever the future may have in store for me,” the player said.

Players have won more than $21 million playing Big Money Pay Day, which launched in July. Each $20 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $20 up to $2 million. More than $79 million in prizes remain, including two $2 million top prizes, 12 $10,000 prizes, and 183 $2,000 prizes.

In 2025, Lottery players won more than $1.7 billion playing instant games.

Lottery instant games may be purchased at retailers across the state.
