An Oakland County man is looking forward to giving his kids a better future after winning $1 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s $1,000,000 Cash Spectacular instant game.
“I stopped at the store and bought three lottery tickets,” said the lucky 48-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous. “I didn’t win anything on the first two tickets, then I scratched the third ticket and was in total disbelief when I saw I’d won $1 million!
“I feel so blessed to win a prize like this. It’s going to give our family a sense of financial security and will allow us to give our kids a better future.”
The player bought his winning ticket at Main Street Convenience Inc., located at 402 South Main Street in Ann Arbor. He recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000 rather than annuity payments for the full amount. With his winnings, he plans to start college funds for his children.
Players have won more than $8 million playing $1,000,000 Cash Spectacular, which launched in April. Each $10 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $1 million. More than $37 million in prizes remain, including two $1 million top prizes and 258 $2,000 prizes.
In 2025, Lottery players won more than $1.7 billion playing instant games.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at retailers across the state.
