A spur of the moment decision to add Easy Pick numbers to her Lotto 47 ticket paid off for a Wayne County woman who won a $1.67 million Lotto 47 jackpot from the Michigan Lottery!

The lucky 68-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched the six Lotto 47 numbers drawn – 05-16-17-34-36-44 – in the April 25 drawing to win a $1.67 million jackpot. She bought the winning ticket at New Boston Fuel Stop Inc., located at 37330 Huron River Road in New Boston.

“My husband and I have been playing Lotto 47 since it began,” said the player. “We have a special set of numbers we usually play, so we played those and then at the last minute decided to add two sets of Easy Pick numbers to the ticket too.”

“Every morning after the drawing, I check our tickets by looking at the winning numbers on MichiganLottery.com,” said the player’s husband. “As I checked off the numbers, I said to myself: ‘We won $5, then $100, then $2,500,’ and then when I checked off the last number to win the jackpot I yelled: ‘No way!’ I surprised my wife later that morning by handing her the ticket and showing her the winning numbers online.”

The lucky player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of about $1.16 million rather than annuity payments for the full amount. With her winnings she plans to buy a new car and then save the remainder.

Each Lotto 47 play is only $1. Players select six numbers from one to 47 for a chance to win a jackpot starting at $1 million and that grows until someone wins it. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Lotto 47 ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $1.5 million in the nightly Double Play drawing. For an additional $1 per game, players may add EZMatch to their ticket for a chance to win up to $500 instantly.
