Ottawa County Woman Wins $300,000 Playing the Michigan Lottery’s Safe Cracker Cashword Instant Game

Winning ticketA 26-year-old Ottawa County woman said winning $300,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Safe Cracker Cashword instant game still doesn’t feel real!

“I don’t usually play Cashword games, but the store was out of the two tickets I usually play, so I bought two Safe Cracker Cashword tickets instead,” said the 26-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous. “I scratched one of the tickets before going to bed and saved the other one for the morning.

“I scratched the ticket as soon as I woke up and counted the words over and over again when I realized I had 10. I was shocked and excited but tried to stay calm when I realized I’d just won $300,000! It still doesn’t feel real.”

The player bought her winning ticket at the Speedway, located at 1815 Baldwin Street in Jenison. She recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim her prize. With her winnings, she plans to pay off her car, invest, and then save the remainder.

Players have won more than $26 million playing the Safe Cracker Cashword instant game, which launched in December. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. More than $10 million in prizes remain, including one $300,000 top prize and 41 $1,000 prizes.

In 2024, Lottery players won nearly $1.8 billion playing instant games.

Lottery instant games may be purchased at retailers across the state.
