A Muskegon County woman had a random urge to buy a lottery ticket and ended up winning a $500,000 prize playing the Michigan Lottery’s 777 Jackpot instant game!
The lucky 64-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought her winning ticket at the McCormick gas station, located at 1845 White Lake Drive in Whitehall. Whitehall is about 15 miles northwest of Muskegon.
“It hadn’t played the Lottery in a while, but I had a random urge to purchase an instant ticket one day,” said the player. “I scratched the ticket when I got home and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I revealed a $500,000 prize! I told my husband the good news by showing him my winning ticket.
“Winning this prize will allow me to become debt free, and that is going to be a great feeling!”
The player visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim her big prize. With her winnings, she plans to pay bills and then save the remainder.
Players have won more than $5 million playing the 777 Jackpot instant game, which launched in August. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $500,000. More than $25 million in prizes remain, including two $500,000 prizes and 25 $2,000 prizes.
In 2023, Lottery players won nearly $1.8 billion playing instant games.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at retailers across the state.
