A South Haven lottery club got a life-changing surprise when they found out they’d won a $100,000 Powerball prize weeks after the drawing!
The two-person IDK J&H lottery club matched four white balls and the Powerball – 14-16-42-48-64, PB: 14 – in the Oct. 14 drawing to win a $50,000 prize. Thanks to the Power Play, the prize was multiplied to $100,000. They bought the winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.
“Me and my boyfriend have been playing the Lottery together for about a year,” said the club’s representative, Haley Honcharenko. “We were sitting at home one night and decided to buy a few tickets online. We had forgotten all about the tickets, so we didn’t realize we’d won until weeks later.
“We were at the bar, and I logged in to my account to see if I had any Lottery coupons. When I saw my balance was $100,000, I didn’t believe it was real at first. I started the claims process just to see what would happen, and that’s when I knew we had really won!”
The lottery club visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim their prize. They plan to save their winnings.
Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each at Lottery retailers across the state and online at MichiganLottery.com. A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to a maximum of $2 million may be added to any Powerball play for only $1. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Powerball ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $10 million in the nightly Double Play drawing.
The Powerball drawing takes place at 10:59 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday and may be watched live online at: http://www.powerball.com. Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
