A real-life game of telephone led to a Clinton County woman learning she had won a $100,000 Fantasy 5 jackpot from the Michigan Lottery.

Ronda Sills, of Maple Rapids, matched the Fantasy 5 numbers in the Dec. 30 drawing to win the big prize: 14-16-22-28-31. She bought her winning ticket at Carl’s Market, located at 114 West Main Street in Maple Rapids. Sills and her husband, Dean, own the store where she bought her winning ticket. Maple Rapids is about 35 miles north of Lansing.

“I was heading out for the day and decided to buy a Fantasy 5 ticket with the few bucks I had in my pocket,” said the 55-year-old Sills. “The following week, my husband got a call from a friend who had overheard our store had sold the jackpot winning Fantasy 5 ticket.

“When my buddy told me that, I just had a feeling it might have been Ronda’s ticket,” said Dean Sills. “I called her right away and asked her to look at the ticket. While we were on the phone, my Lottery sales representative called me to congratulate our store on selling a jackpot winner. When I got back on the line with Ronda, I could hear it in her voice that we had won the jackpot!”

Ronda and Dean Sills visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. They plan to pay bills and then save the remainder of their prize.

Each Fantasy 5 play is only $1. For an additional $1 per play, EZmatch may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a chance to win up to $500 instantly. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $110,000 in the nightly Double Play drawing. Players may win prizes in the regular nightly drawing, the Double Play drawing, or both. Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39. Players who match all five Fantasy 5 numbers drawn win a jackpot that starts at $100,000.

Fantasy 5 drawings are held seven days a week at 7:29 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at a retailer or online at MichiganLottery.com until 7:08 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
