Shiawassee County Man Wins $100,000 Powerball Prize from the Michigan Lottery

PowerballA Shiawassee County man jumped out of bed and started pacing his house when he found out he won a $100,000 Powerball prize from the Michigan Lottery.

Todd Schroeder, of Laingsburg, matched four white balls and the Powerball – 05-12-20-24-29, PB: 04 – in the Dec. 25 drawing to win a $50,000 prize. Thanks to the Power Play, the prize was multiplied to $100,000. He bought his winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.

“I play Powerball and Mega Millions a few times per month, and I always buy my tickets online,” said Schroeder. “I saw an email from the Lottery when I woke up the morning after the drawing, so I logged in to my account to see how much I’d won.

“When I saw a $100,000 prize pending, I jumped out of bed and started pacing the house. All I could think was: ‘Am I seeing this right?!’ It took a few minutes for it to sink in that I had really won!”

Schroeder, 52, visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim his prize. With his winnings, he plans to complete some car repairs and then save the remainder.

“Winning is such a relief and is going to make life easier,” said Schroeder.

Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each at Lottery retailers across the state and online at MichiganLottery.com. A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to a maximum of $2 million may be added to any Powerball play for only $1. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Powerball ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $10 million in the nightly Double Play drawing.

The Powerball drawing takes place at 10:59 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday and may be watched live online at: http://www.powerball.com. Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
