Crowning Achievement: Bay County Man Wins $1 Million Playing Cash is Queen Instant Game

A Bay County man is feeling like royalty after winning $1 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s Cash is Queen instant game.

The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at Jack’s Fruit Market, located at 1000 Salzburg Avenue in Bay City.

“I had been to Jack’s earlier in the day and bought a couple of tickets,” said the 58-year-old player. “I had to return an item later in the day, and decided to buy a couple more tickets and one of those was the $1 million winner!”

The lucky player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000, rather than annuity payments for the full amount. With his winnings, he plans to pay off his house and then save the remainder.

Players have won more than $25 million playing Cash is Queen, which launched in April 2023. Each $10 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $1 million. More than $27 million in prizes remain, including two $1 million top prizes, five $10,000 prizes, and 42 $2,000 prizes.

In 2022, Lottery players won more than $1.7 billion playing instant games.

Lottery instant games may be purchased at any of the 10,500 retailers across the state.
