A Powerball jackpot could be the greatest gift of all for a Michigan Lottery player if they win tonight’s $638 million jackpot! The cash option for the jackpot is $321 million.
If a player wins the $638 million Powerball jackpot tonight, it would be the fourth time the game’s jackpot has been won on Christmas. The last time Powerball had a jackpot winner on Christmas Day was 10 years ago, when a ticket in Missouri won a $71.5 million jackpot on Dec. 25, 2013. There have been three Powerball jackpots won on Christmas:
- Dec. 25, 1996 – $48.2 million – Idaho
- Dec. 25, 2002 – $314.9 million – West Virginia
- Dec. 25, 2013 – $71.5 million – Missouri
The Powerball jackpot was last won on Oct. 11 when one ticket purchased in California won the $1.76 billion jackpot. The jackpot was the largest Powerball jackpot won this year and the second largest jackpot in Powerball history.
The last Michigan player to win a Powerball jackpot was Cristy Davis, of Waterford. Davis won the game’s $70 million jackpot on Feb. 12, 2020.
Players have plenty of time to purchase tickets for the drawing. Lottery retailers throughout the state are selling Powerball tickets until 9:45 p.m. tonight. Tickets also may be purchased online at MichiganLottery.com.
Powerball drawings take place at 10:59 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday and may be watched live online at: http://www.powerball.com. A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to a maximum of $2 million may be added to any Powerball play for only $1.
