Kent County Man Wins $25,000 a Year for Life Playing Lucky For Life

Winning ticketA Kent County man’s special set of numbers led to a big pay day when he won $25,000 a year for life playing the Michigan Lottery’s Lucky For Life game.

Steven Frederick, of Belmont, matched the five white balls drawn June 20 – 10-17-26-28-30 – to win the big prize. He bought his winning ticket at the J&H Family Store, located at 1604 Post Drive Northeast in Belmont. Belmont is about 10 miles north of Grand Rapids.

“I have been playing Lucky For Life for several years and I always play the same numbers,” said Frederick. “I checked the winning numbers online the morning after the drawing, and when I saw I’d won $25,000 a year for life, I shouted in excitement: ‘It’s about time!’

“When I showed my wife how much we’d won, she also started hollering with excitement. I have been playing these numbers for years, and I am thrilled they finally paid off!”

Frederick, 67, visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim his prize. He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of $390,000 rather than annuity payments of $25,000 a year for 20 years or life, whichever is greater. With his winnings, he plans to purchase a home.

For just $2 per play, Lucky For Life gives Lottery players a chance to win prizes ranging from $3 to a lifetime of cash. To win the game’s top prize of $1,000 a day for life, players must match all five winning numbers ranging from 1 to 48, plus one Lucky Ball ranging from 1 to 18. Players who match all five winning numbers, but not the Lucky Ball, will win $25,000 a year for life. Drawings take place at 10:38 p.m. seven days-a-week. Tickets may be purchased at Lottery retailers across the state and online at MichiganLottery.com.
