A Flint woman felt like she couldn’t breathe after winning $300,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Emerald Green Wild Time instant game.
Renae Shelby, 56, purchased her winning ticket at Khouris Market, located at 3239 Davison Road in Flint.
“I always purchase my tickets from the same self-serve machine, and I call it my ‘lucky machine’,” said Shelby. “I had some winning tickets, so I cashed them at the machine and used my credits towards a few Emerald Green Wild Time tickets.
“I started scratching the tickets when I got in my car, and when I saw I’d won $300,000, I was in shock! I called my son right away and he thought he was going to have to call 911 because I felt like I couldn’t breathe and could barely get my words out to tell him I’d won $300,000. It was so exciting!”
Shelby recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim her prize. She plans to save her winnings.
“Winning this prize has opened new doors and will provide a lot of opportunities for me that weren’t previously there,” said Shelby.
Players have won more than $6 million playing Emerald Green Wild Time which launched in December. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. More than $39 million in prizes remain, including two $300,000 top prizes, nine $25,000 prizes, and 34 $2,500 prizes.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at any of the 10,500 retailers across the state.
In 2021, Lottery players won more than $1.8 billion playing instant games.
