An Oakland County lottery club said winning a $3.73 million Lotto 47 jackpot still seems unreal.

The four-person Michigan Lucky 4 lottery club matched the winning Lotto 47 numbers drawn Dec. 10 to win the jackpot: 04-07-08-18-25-35. The club’s representative bought the winning ticket at the Sunoco gas station, located at 7650 Ortonville Road in Clarkston.

“Our family decided to form a Lottery club and we have been playing together for a while,” said the club’s representative. “I bought a Lotto 47 ticket for our club and forgot to check it after the drawing. A few days later, I was at the same retailer I purchased the ticket, and the owner told me they had sold a $3.73 million winning Lotto 47 ticket. I made a mental note to check my ticket when I got home and then completely forgot about it.

“A few days later, I saw the ticket and remembered that I still hadn’t checked it. When I realized that we’d won the jackpot, it took me awhile to gather my thoughts. Once it sunk in, I called my wife and the other club members to tell them the good news! It still seems unreal.”

The club members recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the prize. They chose to receive their prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $2.5 million rather than 30 annuity payments for the full amount. They each plan to save their winnings.

Each Lotto 47 play is only $1. Players select six numbers from one to 47 for a chance to win a jackpot starting at $1 million and that grows until someone wins it. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Lotto 47 ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $1.5 million in the nightly Double Play drawing. For an additional $1 per game, players may add EZMatch to their ticket for a chance to win up to $500 instantly. Lotto 47 drawings take place on Wednesday and Saturday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at a retailer or online at MichiganLottery.com until 7:08 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
