Mega Millions LogoThere’s a huge pile of cash up for grabs in the Mega Millions drawing which now stands at $1.02 billion for Friday’s drawing. The cash option for Friday’s jackpot is $602.5 million.

If a lucky player wins the $1.02 billion jackpot it will be the third largest Mega Millions jackpot prize won in the game’s history and the fourth largest jackpot won in U.S. lottery history. In October 2018, one ticket purchased in South Carolina won the record $1.537 billion Mega Millions jackpot, which is the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won and second largest jackpot won in U.S. lottery history.

In January 2021, an Oakland County lottery club won a $1.05 billion Mega Millions jackpot. That jackpot was the largest ever won in Michigan and the second largest Mega Millions jackpot prize ever won.

Friday’s drawing will be the 30th Mega Millions drawing since the jackpot was last won in April. One ticket purchased in Tennessee won the game’s $20 million jackpot.

Mega Millions drawings take place each Tuesday and Friday evening. Each Mega Millions play is only $2. For an additional $1 per play, players have the opportunity to add a “Megaplier” that can multiply non-jackpot prizes by up to five times. Mega Millions tickets are sold in 45 states, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Mega Millions tickets may be purchased online at MichiganLottery.com and at any of the Lottery’s 10,500 retailers around the state until 10:45 p.m. the day of the drawing.
