A Wayne County man almost fainted after winning a $173,458 Fantasy 5 prize from the Michigan Lottery.
Michael Kelly, of Canton, was one of the three lucky winners who matched the Fantasy 5 numbers in the Nov. 13 drawing to split the $540,374 jackpot: 02-03-27-29-35. Kelly bought his winning ticket at the Plymouth Super Center located at 400 Ann Arbor Road West in Plymouth. Each winner will receive $173,458 The other two winning tickets were purchased at:
- The Meijer store, located at 15055 Hall Road in Utica.
- The Keg & Wine Party Shoppe, located at 15590 Beech Daly Road in Redford.
“I play the Fantasy 5 game all the time, but never thought I would win a jackpot prize,” said the 81-year-old Kelly. “I checked my numbers the morning after the drawing and when I saw I’d matched all five, I almost fainted! I couldn’t stop looking the ticket over thinking I was missing something.”
Kelly recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim his big prize. With his winnings, he plans to share with family and then save the remainder.
Each Fantasy 5 play is only $1. For an additional $1 per play, EZmatch may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a chance to win up to $500 instantly. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $110,000 in the nightly Double Play drawing. Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39. Players who match all five Fantasy 5 numbers drawn win a jackpot that starts at $100,000. Fantasy 5 drawings are held seven days a week at 7:29 p.m.
