Detroit Man Wins $300,000 Playing the Michigan Lottery’s Poker Multiplier Instant Game

A power outage led to a Detroit man quenching his thirst and filling his bank account with a $300,000 prize from the Michigan Lottery.

“I lost power at my house, so I walked up to the store to grab a cold beer and a Lottery ticket,” said the player, who chose to remain anonymous. “I scratched it off and figured I got my money back when I saw it was a winner.

“When I got home, I decided to check the prize and couldn’t believe it was $300,000! I feel so fortunate and blessed to have won!”

The 67-year-old player visited Lottery headquarters to claim the prize. He plans to use his winnings to supplement his retirement.

Players have won more than $21 million playing Poker Multiplier, which launched in August 2018.

Lottery instant games may be purchased at 10,500 retailers across the state.

In 2019, Lottery players won more than $1.2 billion playing instant games.
